Craig Keener: From Atheism to Christianity

Testimonies
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=injEbY_HnlA&ab_channel=IanRamseyCentre I wasn't raised in church. I knew Christians but I wasn't raised in a Christian home. I had grandparents who were Christians and other relatives who were Christians but by probably around the age of nine, I was an atheist. I remember talking with my mom at that time and saying I don't believe in life after death and we had an interesting conversation at that point because I don't think she did either. When I was about 13, I started reading Plato and Plato got me thinking about life after death, not that his arguments were all that persuasive, like the pre-existence of the soul. I wasn't persuaded by his arguments but it really got me thinking about what life was really about. If it was just this…

Atheist to Christian | Dr. Rosalind Picard, MIT

Testimonies
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwoTASkifwE&ab_channel=TheVeritasForum I was not always a Christian. I was an atheist for the first part of my life and was challenged by people who I really admired who are Christians that maybe I should learn a little bit more and get a little bit more data to go with my views. My views at the time were that Christians and actually all religions (I was pretty antagonistic toward people who really didn't know their science or maybe they needed a crutch or something) were not that smart. Then I started to realize that many of such people were super smart and they challenged me to read the best-selling book of all time, which is probably still the bible - the Hebrew Old Testament and Christian New Testament. As I was…

Testimony of Francis Collins, Director of the Human Genome Project

Testimonies
https://youtu.be/sTuoX_m2oHg Francis Collins, one of the greatest scientists of our time was director of the human genome project, mapping the three billion letters in the human DNA, considered by many to be the most significant scientific undertaking of our time. He describes how he encountered Jesus and came to believe in the truth of Christianity. Well in the home where I grew up, faith was not something that was talked about very much. My father was a professor of drama, my mother a playwright. When I went to college and those discussions in the dorm late at night about religion began to occur, I had no particular reason to attach value to a faith system. It had never been something I was familiar with or had internalized at all. And…

Testimony of John Lennox from Oxford University

Testimonies
https://youtu.be/uFMPZF4x0gs There's a widespread impression in the public that science and God don't mix.  And that's curious because if you think of the rise of science in the 16th and 17th centuries, all its pioneers believed in God. In fact, they were Christian in some sense or other. You talk about Galileo, Kepler, Newton and so on. Kepler famously said “We're thinking God's thoughts after him.” So far from their belief in God hindering their science, it was the very motive that drove it. Because they believed in a creator, a rational spirit behind the universe, they thought that science was worth doing. And so they did it. So I'm not remotely embarrassed at saying I'm both a scientist and a Christian because arguably Christianity gave me my subject. We…
